Scott Kettner is a faculty member at The New School University where he teaches private drum set and percussion classes as well as conducts the Brazilian Maracatu Ensemble. Scott is available for clinics, private lessons and master classes. Scott has conducted master classes at Manhattan School of Music, Oberlin College, NYU, Columbia University, Syracuse University, Lincoln Center, University of Wisconsin at Madison and many more.  He has been conducting maracatu percussion workshops in Brooklyn with Maracatu New York since 2002 where he has taught hundreds of students to play percussion.


Key Note Presentation:
Scott has developed a unique, interactive educational key note presentation on the background of Maracatu de Baque Virado and it's relationship to the New Orleans second line and Mardi Gras Indian rhythms.  This presentation includes behind the scenes videos, photos and an in-depth look into the culture, music and history of maracatu.

Private Lessons:
Scott Kettner is now accepting a limited number of serious drumset and/or Brazilian percussion students.

Drumset classes include:
• Jazz styles and technique
• Brazilian Rhythms for drumset (emphasis on northeast rhythms)
• Improvisational techniques
• Sight reading

Brazilian Percussion Classes include:
• Pandeiro (Brazilian tamborine): technique, grooves and styles
• Maracatu Percussion
• Zabumba (bass drum used in Forró)
